Mary Allums Edwards, 82, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 23, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. There will be a private interment at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Edwards was born August 17, 1931 in Midland City, AL daughter of the late Oscar Allums and Lucille McKay Allums. She retired in 1995 from Tom's Foods, Inc. with 46 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a lifetime member (over 50 years) of Wm. D. Moye #427 O.E.S. (now Columbus Chapter #261). She was an avid traveler. She went on many trips with Tom's Quarter Century Club, The Young In Heart at First Baptist, and with family and friends. Before her health failed, she had gone on 28 cruises.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Edwards.
Survivors include her daughter, Conchetta Edwards Ousey (Richard) of Columbus, GA; sister, Jean Floore (Bill) of Columbus, MS; brother, Oscar Ray Allums (Ann) of Tucson, AZ; grandson, Brandon Charles Thompson of Columbus, GA ; great grandchildren, Savannah Renee Thompson and Ian Charles Thompson both of Columbus, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
