Mary Alvie Mack Blaxton, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 24, 2025, in Columbus, GA.

A celebration of her life will be held at Beallwood Baptist Church on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm at the church. A private graveside service will take place at Parkhill Cemetery.

Mary's legacy is carried on by her loving family, Born on October 2, 1926, in Opp, AL, to the late Joe and Dener Mack. Mary's life was a testament to her selfless nature and her unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and community.

For over three decades, Mary served as a crossing guard for the Muscogee County School System, primarily at Nankipooh School, where she ensured the safety of countless children with a smile that could light up the darkest of days. Her dedication to the well-being of the young was a hallmark of her character.

Mary was a devoted member of Beallwood Baptist Church, where she served in various roles that touched many lives. She was most noted for teaching Sunday school, caring for little ones in the nursery, and offering comfort through the bereavement committee. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.

Survivors include a daughter Pam Authement (Philip), her son Gary Blaxton (Barbara), her daughter-in-law Sharon Blaxton, her cherished grandchildren April Smith, Terry Blaxton Jr., Amber Mordic, Haley Wallace, Ramsey Blaxton, Lauren Patterson, and Garrett Blaxton, along with fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was a central figure in the lives of her extended family and a multitude of friends who felt her warmth and generosity. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Blaxton, and her son, Terry Blaxton and great granddaughter, Molly Mordic. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the amazing sitters who provided Mary with care and companionship in her final years. Their support was invaluable and greatly appreciated.
