Mary Downs Blalock, 92, of Ft. Mitchell, AL, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Phenix City Health Care.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 25, 2014 at Lakewood Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Henderson and Rev. Charles Keown officiating. A private interment will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th Street Phenix City, AL 36867.
Mrs. Blalock was born March 17, 1921 in Geneva, GA daughter of the late John B. Downs and Beatress Sallas Gibbs. She was a former member of Lakeview Baptist Church and the Amen Choir and a current member of Oswichee Baptist Church. She was retired from both Sears and from the Civil Service in the Comptroller Division.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Blalock, Jr.
Survivors include her nieces, Gloria P. Kite, Gladys Smith, and Angelyn Sears all of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Peggy Harvey of Lake, MS, and Brenda Yawn of Phenix City, AL; and nephews, Marvin Eugene Jenkins of Phenix City, AL, James Wayne Jenkins of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Theodore (Ted) Jenkins of Phenix City, AL, and Benny Downs of Columbus, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oswichee Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 266 Ft. Mitchell, AL 36856 in Memory of Mary D. Blalock.
