Mary Frances Bell, 93, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Russell Horne and Elder John M. Smith officiating. Interment will be held at Waverly Hall City Cemetery in Waverly Hall, GA. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Bell was born November 21, 1917 in Geneva County, AL daughter of the late Mark and Minnie Graham Barber. She was a homemaker and a devoted, lifelong member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed needlepointing for her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family and friends. Mrs. Bell and her 96 year old sister, Era Barber, lived together for many years. She was loved by her children and grandchildren, and she loved all.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Wallace Jackson Bell, sister, Ettie Maxwell, and brothers, Grady Barber and Raymond Barber.
Survivors include her two daughters, Shirley Bell Wetherington (Jim) of Columbus, GA and Rebecca Bell Wadkins (Hayden) of Columbus, GA, two sons, Jack Bell (Eva) of Powder Springs, GA and Greg Bell (Joyce) of Yellville, AK, sister, Era Barber of Columbus, GA, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
