Mary Patricia Alston

Brethren, we gather today to honor the life and legacy of Sister Mary Patricia Alston, affectionately known to many as Pat and Aunt Patsy, a beacon of light and love who was called home to glory on the 3rd of June, 2024. Born on the 21st of September, 1934, in the charming city of Baltimore, Maryland, Sister Pat was a radiant spirit who illuminated the lives of all she encountered. Her journey on this earthly realm concluded peacefully in Phenix City, Alabama, where she transitioned into the arms of the Lord following a natural circulatory departure.

A graveside service will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, AL 36856 Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 10:00am with Elder Willis Wilson officiating  according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA,31907.

Sister Pat was the cherished daughter of the late Norman and Beatrice Matthews, and the beloved wife of the late Horace Lee Alston. She was a devoted sister to Calvin Matthews and his wife Thomasina, and a loving sister-in-law to Elaine Matthews. Her legacy is carried on by her stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her stepdaughter and caregiver, Yolanda Wilson, her son-in-law Elder Willis Wilson, and her adored granddaughter Kendra Wilson. Her nieces, nephews, and extended family from the Sightseeing Road Chapel Gospel Service in Fort Moore, Georgia, will forever hold her memory dear.

Educated in the Baltimore Public Schools and further refined at Bible College, Sister Pat was a woman of profound faith and wisdom. Her professional journey was marked by her service as an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force and her dedicated tenure at the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, where she retired from her role in data entry. Her work ethic was unmatched, her commitment to her vocation unwavering.

Sister Pat was anointed with many talents, notably her skill as an artist. Her drawings were not just images on paper but visual hymns of praise to the Creator. She found joy in the simple pleasures of reading, and her soul was stirred by the sermons of Jimmy Swaggart. Yet, above all, Sister Pat's passion was sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She lived her faith, and her life was a testament to the grace she so freely received.

Those who knew Sister Pat will remember her as faith-filled, kind, and generous. Her spirit was a wellspring of comfort and her heart a sanctuary of warmth. She gave without expectation and loved unconditionally. Her presence was a reminder of the goodness that dwells within us all, and her laughter a melody that echoed the joy of the Lord.

Let us not mourn as those without hope, for Sister Pat has merely transitioned from her temporal home to her eternal one. She has fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the faith. Now, there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give her at that day.

As we bid farewell to our dear Sister Pat, let us carry forward the light she has imparted to each of us. May we walk in her footsteps of kindness, extend her legacy of generosity, and live out the faith she so beautifully exemplified. Sister Mary Patricia Alston, your memory will forever be a blessing, and your spirit will continue to guide us until we meet again at Jesus' feet.

To the family, I say, be comforted by the words of our Savior, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." (Matthew 5:4) Let us all find solace in knowing that Sister Pat is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where she shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
