- Ret. SSG Marvin F. Tarr, 77 of Ft. Mitchell, AL died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Columbus Hospice House.

Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Emory Evans officiating. The family will receive friend Tuesday evening from 6 till 8 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL.

Ret. SSG Tarr was born March 4, 1933 in Clearlake, Iowa son of the late Ruth Marie French Tarr and Ralph W. Tarr. He was a Retired Staff Sergeant with U. S. Army having served during the Korean War and Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was an avid Auburn fan. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Ruth Flowers Tarr.

Survivors include his daughter, Marie Rumsey and husband Albert of Seale, AL; grandchildren; Tina McElroy and husband Steven of Woodstock, AL and Marvin Moore of Phenix City, AL; great grandchildren; Haley & Brooke McElroy and Syera, Evan & Tae Moore; brothers, Donald Tarr of Wisconsin, Allen Wesley Tarr, Bill Tarr and Keith Tarr all of Clearlake, Iowa and Dick Tarr of Champaign, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
