Marvin Earl Jones, Jr., 90, of Columbus, GA died Monday, January 15, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Elder Freddy Lane officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones, son of the late Marvin Earl Jones and Christine Watkins Jones, was born April 21, 1927 in Columbus. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus and retired after twenty-five years of service as an auditor with the Internal Review Division, Chief of Staff Office at Ft. Benning, GA. Prior to that, he worked as an accountant for Bickerstaff Clay Products for twelve years, and prior to that with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service in Atlanta, GA.
Survivors include two children, David Earl Jones and his wife, Stephanie, of Brunswick, GA and Carol Jones Davis and her husband, Jim Davis of Americus, GA; grandchildren, Rebecca Jones and MacKenzie Jones and Alec Davis (Tracey) and Audrey Davis Matthews (Landon), and one great-granddaughter, Sue Davis.
