Jim Dunaway, a man of great faith, 72, died on March 8, 2012 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, FL.
A memorial service will be held in Pleitz Chapel at First Baptist Church, Jackson St. Entrance 500 North Palafox St. Pensacola, FL 32501 on Thursday, March 15, 2012. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM with the celebration of his life at 11:00 AM. Dr. Barry Howard will officiate. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Dunaway was born May 5, 1939 in Columbus, GA son of the late Marvin James Dunaway, Sr. and Tina Davidson Dunaway. Jim graduated from Columbus High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). He then served with the Third Armored Division of the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lt. followed by two years in Frankfurt, Germany as a 1st Lt. and then as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Later, Jim began a long career in insurance with Travelers Insurance and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance. At the time of his retirement, he was a National General Adjuster dealing with large commercial entities and was a member of the National Adjuster and Structural Engineer Board.
Jim and Camille have been very active in First Baptist Church of Pensacola for 26 years. He was a deacon, played for the piano for the â
