Martha Faye Lucas Ross

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Martha Faye Lucas Ross, of Columbus, GA, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born October 22, 1944, and lived most of her life in Waverly Hall, GA. In her community, she was a hairdresser for many years and a member of Olive Branch Methodist Church.

Martha was a devoted mother to four children; Robin, Tracy, Teresa, and Kelly. As a strong, loving, protective mother, she worked diligently providing the best for each of her children and taught them to love the Lord by bringing them up in church. She dearly loved her nine grandchildren; Martie, Lucas, Adam, Jessica, Kurt, Jacob, Allison, Mary, and Matthew. Each grandchild was special to her, and they knew that their grandmother was one of their biggest cheerleaders and supporters. In recent years, she found much joy in her great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and delighted in God’s creation; the simple beauty and stillness of nature filled her with peace and joy. She especially loved flowers, trees, and birds, as well as the ocean. Her family honors the incredible strength that Martha displayed throughout the years.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents Noel Douglas Lucas, Sr. and Frances Marie Kidd Lucas; her daughter Kelly Frances Ross Zimmerman; her grandson Jacob Ross Witherspoon; her brothers Noel D. Lucas, Jr. and Alfred C. Lucas. Survivors include her daughters, Robin Renae Ross Jones (Shane) of Smith Station, AL; Tracy Lynn Ross Dean (Bob) of Warm Springs, GA; Teresa Annette Ross McCarthy (Kevin) of Senoia, GA; her sister Daisy Elizabeth Green of Waverly Hall; 8 grandchildren, Martha Elizabeth Whisnant Hornsby, Lucas Ryan Witherspoon, Adam Lee Coe, Jessica Frances Whisnant Brown, Kurt Conally Zimmerman, Allison Lynn Dean, Mary Margaret McCarthy, and Matthew Zimmerman; great grandchildren, Beckham, Maris, Hendrix, Noah, Annette, Emma, Maycee, Hannah, Jacobi, Kylend, Kortlyn, Kynleigh, Levi, Calvin and one on the way.
