Martha Ann Holloway

Martha Ann Holloway, 84, Columbus, GA died Sunday, May 26, 2024 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held 2:00PM, Friday May 31, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Seth Hon officiating, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. An interment at Parkhill Cemetery will follow services. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM - 7:00PM at the funeral home Thursday, May 30, 2024 .

Martha was born June 4, 1939 in Tuscaloosa, AL daughter of the late Chester Floyd McConnell and Annie Ruth Thompson McConnell. She retired from Civil Service in 1997. Martha had many favorite things in life, but her favorite of all was family. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when she was needed most-offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength, and unending generosity. It showed in the way she cared for her husband and children.

Martha was an independent, tough, spirited woman, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

Other than her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her son, Clifford Mark Owens; brother, James McConnell; sister, Mammie Ruth Gullatt; grandsons, Jonathan David Childs, Patrick Ryan Childs; granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Ortiz.

Survivors include her husband, William R. Holloway of Columbus, GA; children, Vicky Childs (Mike) of Cataula, GA, Teresa Dean of Columbus, GA, Cathy Clayton (David) of Phenix City, AL; step-children, Tommy Holloway (Susie) of Phenix City, AL, Ronnie Holloway of Phenix City, AL, Cathy Underwood of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Michael Childs (Mikal) of Seale, AL, Matthew Ortiz (Tami) of Smith Station, AL, Rhonda Childs of Smith Station, AL, Bryan Cooke (Shelly) of Crawford , AL, David Clayton (Whitney) of Columbus, GA; 12 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
