Martha May Gilbert, 86, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Columbus Hospice House.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Reverend Mike Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Gilbert was born November 4, 1925 in Coleman, TX daughter of the late William A. and Clara Morgan Rogers. She was a U.S. Army Veteran and later worked as a book binder for Lithochrome. She also worked as a nursing assistant in Colorado.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ret. Maj. Joe Morris Gilbert and daughter, Martha Ann Peel.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Marchetta (Andrew) of Ball Ground, GA, son, Michael Gilbert (Freya) of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Meredith Gilbert, Claire Marchetta, Anne Marchetta, Stephen Amos, Brandy Roell and Robert Peel, sister, Laura Stone, and niece, Mary Stockton (Billy).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to your local hospice.
