She traveled all over the United States from Georgia to California to Alaska, while raising her two sons and supporting her husband’s career as an Army aviator. Their final assignment with the Army before returning to the United States to retire was in Izmir, Turkey. They returned to Columbus, GA, in 1969, where Anne would live until the summer of 2022, except for the two years they spent in Iran from 1975 to 1977. In Columbus, she remained active in the local Military Officers Association, the Parents Association at Brookstone School, the Windsor Park Garden Club, and the local American Red Cross volunteering as a Grey Lady aide in hospitals throughout the Columbus area. Anne was a true partner in her husband’s military service and a patient, loving, and nurturing mother to
her two boys.
