Marjorie Burkhalter 95, of Columbus Georgia died Saturday, March 9, 2013 peacefully at Columbus Hospice.
Graveside services for Mrs. Burkhalter will be held 3:00 P.M., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Parkhill Cemetery, with the Dr. Frank Parr officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Marjorie Burkhalter was born June 9, 1917 in Crawford, Alabama daughter of the late Joseph S. Bishop and Lillian Malloy Bishop. She was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; devoted her life to loving and caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dewitt Burkhalter, her six siblings and her grandson Brian Burkhalter.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Vicki) Burkhalter of Seale, Alabama; daughter, Patricia B. Herring of Hamilton, Georgia; granddaughter, Lindsay C. Herring of New York, N.Y.; step granddaughter, Sherri (Jeff) Smith of Smith Station, Alabama and step great-grandchildren Victoria Smith and Zack Smith of Smith Station, Alabama.
The family would like to express their deep love and appreciation to Mrs. Burkhalter's caregiver and friend Raquel Spann who helped care for their mother for 11 years. She is a very dear friend and loved by the Burkhalter family.
