Marion Russell Mccoy

Marion Russell McCoy, 85, of Columbus, GA passed away at Columbus Hospice House on September 28, 2024.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Marion was born on October 22, 1938, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to the late Ruby and James Carlos McCoy. After graduating high school, he worked a variety of jobs before proudly enlisting in the United States Army. He served honorably for over 15 years, before retiring as a Captain. It was during his time in the Army that he met the love of his life and future wife Eva. After leaving Berlin, Germany, they settled in Columbus, Georgia, where they built a life and raised their family.

Marion had a passion for playing the guitar and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. He loved cheering on his favorite NFL team, the Atlanta Falcons, and would enthusiastically support the Atlanta Braves—so long as they were winning. Above all, Marion cherished time spent with his family and granddaughters. His fondest memories were vacationing at the beach with his beautiful wife, Eva, and holiday celebrations at home.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Eva McCoy, and their son, Marion Russell McCoy, Jr. Survivors include his Sons: Michael McCoy (Julie) of Midland, GA and Mitchell McCoy (Ashley) of Crestwood, KY.  Granddaughters: Leah McCoy and Kenna McCoy both of Midland, GA.
