Mariko K. Holtzclaw, 82, of 4278 Moccasin Trail, Woodstock, GA died Thursday, 19 June at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA.
The funeral will be at 11 AM Wednesday, 2 July at the Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, SGM (Ret) James A. Holtzclaw, who died in December, 1985.
Mrs. Holtzclaw was born March 14, 1932 in Tokyo, Japan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noboru Kawakami. She met and married her husband, SGM James A. Holtzclaw in 1957. The couple returned to the United States in 1960. Mrs. Holtzclaw lived in Columbus for 22 years, and then Kennesaw, GA and Woodstock, GA for 26 years.
Survivors include her two sons, James A. Holtzclaw, 54, of Manassas, VA and Alan K. Holtzclaw, 50, of Clayton, NC; two daughters, Carolyn M. O'Brien, 53, of Woodstock, GA and Angela M. Ruiz-Bernal, 49 of Canton, GA; two brothers, Shoichi Kawakami, 79, of Kurume City, Japan, and Shouji Kawakami, 73, of Saitama, Japan; and four sisters, Yoshiko Ichino, 92, of Tokyo, Japan, Suzuko Machuga, 90, of Anchorage, AK, Kimiko Konishi, 89, of Kawasaki-shi, Japan, and Yuriko Inoue, 84, of Yachimata City, Japan.
