Marianne Mccorkle Hudson

Marianne McCorkle Hudson, 91, of Columbus, Georgia died Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Brookside Glen Assisted Living & Alzheimer’s Care.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, Georgia 31907.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at McMullen Funeral Home with Elder Dennis Johnson officiating.  A private interment will be held at Riverdale Cemetery.  In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, facemasks and social distancing will be required during the services.

Marianne was born January 4, 1930 in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late Riner Paul McCorkle and Elizabeth Cook McCorkle and was the oldest girl of 8 children.  She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  After retirement, Marianne and Shorty enjoyed traveling and went on many trips with the Ambassadors Club.  She was an outstanding baker and made many birthday and wedding cakes.  Her coconut cake was legendary.

Other than her parents, Marianne is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James N. “Shorty” Hudson, Sr., granddaughter Erin Murk, brothers Jesse McCorkle, Joe McCorkle, C.R. “Buddy” McCorkle, and sister Louise Pisarri.

Marianne is survived by her children, Linda Isbell (Larry) of Fortson, Georgia, James N. Hudson, Jr. of Buena Vista, Georgia, Cheryl Murk (Hal) of Senoia, Georgia, Dennis Hudson (Pat) of Fortson, Georgia, and siblings Elizabeth Lehman of Buena Vista, Georgia, Rena DiFilippo of Buena Vista, Georgia, Bobby McCorkle (Dorie) of Buena Vista, Georgia, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The Hudson family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brookside Glen Assisted Living & Alzheimer’s Care for their excellent care and genuine love for our mother over the past 10 years.
