Marian S. Purtle, 98, of Cornelia, GA died peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 3, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Ed Rollins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.
Marian was born September 13, 1924 in Bath, SC to the late William Volley Speed and Lucy Mae Walker. She moved to Columbus, GA when she was a child because of her father’s work. Marian was a music lover, collected records, loved going to the movies and camping. She was a home keeper and worked for 10 years in her 50’s.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband Shaderic Everett Gamble Jr., son Shaderic Everett Gamble III, second husband Charles Purtle, and four sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Elaine Waller and her husband Wayne Waller of Cornelia, GA, grandchildren Matthew Waller and his wife Ashley, and Adam Waller, Melissa Gamble, great grandchildren Rebecca Ledford, Benjamin Ledford, and Paisley Waller.
