Maria Ann Hardcastle, 87, of Columbus, GA Passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 12, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Chaplain Neil Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held in the Chapel of Pines Mausoleum at Parkhill cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907
Mrs. Hardcastle was born March 9, 1936, in Strass, Germany, daughter of the late Johann and Anna Fischer. She lived a proud Army wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Throughout her life, she served as a pillar of support for her children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and bonus children alike. Like many Army Wives, she endured many household relocations, often managing them on her own with her five children in tow. All while being active in the communities she resided, schools, and supporting many soldiers and their families. One of her proudest achievements was obtaining her American citizenship. Her dedication to her family and the journey to becoming an U.S citizen reflect her resilience and commitment, we all have known and loved.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Larry Hardcastle, daughter, Sylvia Fraser, son, Larry Hardcastle Jr., grandson, Noah Ledbetter, two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include three daughters, Julie McDonald (Bill), Charlotte Jackson (Jerry), Carolyn Shelton all of Columbus, GA, as well as 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
