Margaret Robinson Thomas 95, of Columbus died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 02, 2016 at Wynnbrook Baptist Church with Dr. Kevin Calhoun and Dr. Craig Bowers officiating. A private crypt side service will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga.
Mrs. Thomas was born October 03, 1921 in Cramerton, N.C. daughter of the late Sam Lowery Robinson and Ella McAlpine Robinson. She was a devoted member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a pre-school Sunday school teacher for decades. She also taught pre-school at various private schools through the years. Mrs. Thomas was a kind lover of little children and beloved by many friends. She was a faithful Christian and leaves an inspirational legacy of walking with God. She was known affectionately as Mama T. to her family and "Miss Margaret" to her church friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and as an instigator of fun and laughter. Her witty way was unmatched!
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Shed Hill Thomas, Jr. who was a 24 year veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Columbus Bank and Trust Company. She is also preceded in death by her two brothers Earl Robinson and Sam Robinson.
Survivors include her daughter Susan Thomas Franks of Columbus, Ga. son, Steven Edward Thomas (Marjorie) of Allen, TX., six grandchildren, Matthew Franks (Dawn), William G. Franks, Emaly Dominique (Jason), Katherine Gaston, Elizabeth Banks, Ashley Bane (William) 7 Great-grandchildren, Sydney, Saylor, Hannah, Nicholas, Matthew, Jack, Andrew and three nephews.
The family would like to thank all of her care providers on the PCS floor of St. Francis Hospital and at Columbus Hospice. Their compassion and attentive care gave us immeasurable comfort! We would also like to thank the wonderful care providers at Gentiva Home Health Service for their excellent medical care and above and beyond service.
Memorial donations may be given to Wynnbrook Christian School at Wynnbrook Baptist Church.
