Margaret Ellen Simmons, 85, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Waldrop Memorial Baptist Church 2308 Hilton Ave. Columbus, GA 31906 with Reverend Mike Knowles officiating. The family will receive friends after the service according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Simmons was born May 11, 1925 in Opp, AL daughter of the late Zebedee Scofield. She retired after 50 years as a Nurse from the Health Department and was a member of Waldrop Memorial Baptist Church.
Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Simmons and son, John Simmons, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherri and Brian Tetzlaff of Columbus, GA, son, Ron Simmons of Columbus, GA, sister, Dorothy Jernigan of Saint Cloud, FL, two grandchildren, Alayne Simmons and Ashley Simmons both of Columbus, GA and daughter-in-law, Faye Simmons of Columbus, GA.
