M. L. Scroggins, 83, of Cataula, GA died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, July 23, 2015 at St. Anne's Catholic Church 2000 Kay Circle Columbus, GA 31907 with Father Jeremiah McCarthy and Father Martin Eke officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. A rosary will be said Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Scroggins was born February 29, 1932 in Barbour County, AL son of the late Maude and Lessie Wilson Scroggins. He retired from Vulcan Materials as a night watchman. Prior to Vulcan, he served three years in the Air Force, worked as a barber at Black Eagle Barber Shop in Montana and then opened up Mike's Barber Shop in Columbus, Georgia. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church where he was active in aiding the handicapped.
Survivors include his loving wife, Margaret "Peggy" Scroggins of Cataula, GA, daughters, Susan Gresham (James) of Smith Station, AL, Sandra Thacker (Richard) of Cusseta, GA and Karen Frost (Brad) of Midland, GA, three grandchildren, Shane Kozee, Nicholus Kozee and Monica Thacker, six great grandchildren, Mickayla, Cameron, Chance, Katheryn, Jaxson and Jayden, and two nieces, Vonceil Norton and Linda Campbell.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Anne Outreach 2000 Kay Circle Columbus, GA 31907.
