Lyle Taylor McMahan, 73 of Phenix City, Al went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
He was born June 30, 1938 in Bryson City, North Carolina son of the late Fred and Ollie Oliver McMahan. He was a Veteran, serving as a medic(Dental Specialist) in the U. S. Army from September 1961 until November 1970, when he was honorably discharged. He was retired from Plicon.
Lyle had a deep faith in God and in Jesus Christ, and although he was home bound and could not attend church, he watched Dr. Charles Stanley every Sunday morning. Lyle had been ill for a long time but he loved every day on Earth that God blessed him with.
Lyle was an avid sports enthusiast (mostly football). He enjoyed reading the paper, doing the daily jumble and watching his favorite T.V. shows. He loved animals, especially collies.
Lyle was a loving and devoted husband, father and brother. He is survived by his wife, Wilma McMahan, who he loved so much for 42 years. He never missed a day expressing his love and appreciation for her caregiving. He is also survived by his children, who he had a deep love for. They were his pride and joy. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Angela McMahan Kennedy (Bobby) of Fortson, GA, Kristy McMahan of Phenix City, AL, Sean McMahan (Marty) of St. Charles, MO, Deborah Bennett (David) of Lizella, GA, Catherine Smallwood of Warner Robins, GA, Michael McMahan of Centerville, GA, Mark McMahan of Warner Robins, GA, Shane Saddler (Dawn) of Ashburn, VA, Angela Jensen (Randy) of Spring, TX. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Meadows of Macon, GA. Marie was not only his sister, but his friend and confidant. Lyle looked forward to her weekly phone calls. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Randall Dillon of Layland, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, June McMahan.
A Memorial Service was held to honor Lyle on Friday, April 20, 2012, according to Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL. We will love you and cherish you forever.
