Lurlene Rodgers Horton, 82, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Friday, September 11, 2020 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Mr. Donny Ray Horton, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. 31907. A Private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, those attending the funeral service will be required to wear a face mask and social distancing will be in effect.

Lurlene was born July 17, 1937 in Columbus, GA to the late John Henry Rodgers and Nona Taylor Rodgers. She was a sales counselor for Parkhill Cemetery for 15 years.  Lurlene was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother. Her family and her church were the most important aspects in her life. She was very giving, hard working, and a wonderful mentor to all her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donny Ray Horton, Sr., husband, Harold Knox, son, Darrell Wayne Adkins and son, Don Horton.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Avery, Donna Cadena (Jack), Donny Ray Horton (Red) , Brenda Adkins (daughter in law) grandchildren, Lee Bruner, Joshua Mathis (Penni), Matthew Avery, Crystal Avery, Alana Wilson (Donald), Caleb Horton (Rachael), Alex Horton, great-grandchildren, Caden Avery, Madelyn Mathis, Helena Mathis, Ryder Mathis, siblings, Brenda Lanier, Wayne Rodgers, twin sister Murlene Davis and numerous other family members.

The Horton family would like give a special thanks to her niece Janet Priban, sitter, Sue Mauldin, Chattahoochee Hospice in Valley, AL, and MaryEllen Addison (Mrs. Preacher).
