Lula Pearl Berends, 86, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Muscogee Manor Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Buddy Lamb and Rev. Ed Kvietkus officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:30 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Berends was born July 31, 1932 in Houston County, AL daughter of the late John Bunion Brown and Orpie Skinner Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of Schomburg Rd. Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Brown and sister, Jeanette Ward.
Survivors include her husband, Billie Berton "Bill" Berends of Columbus, GA, sons, Dana King (Daun) of Springville, AL and Jamie King (Ramona) of Prattville, AL, sister, Willa Graley of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Brandon King (Mary Anne), Angela Grundy (Andrew) and Richard King (Lauren), and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Max.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Schomburg Rd. Baptist Church 7155 Schomburg Rd. Columbus, GA 31909.
