LTC Rt. Roy Theodore Haskell, Sr. 79 of Columbus died Monday, September 14, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday September 18, 2009 at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church with Father William Carlson officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus. LTC Haskell was born January 02, 1930 in Needham, Massachusetts son of the late Daniel and Mary Mann Haskell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of 20 years serving two tours in the Vietnam Conflict. In addition, he was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, and the VFW Kansas Chapter. LTC Haskell was preceded in death by his son Roy T. Haskell, Jr. Survivors include his wife Amy Greuling Haskell of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Amy Haskell Jones (David) of Taylor County, GA; Lori Jean Haskell Hemphill (Shawn Anthony) of Bay Town, TX; one son Charles P. Haskell (Tammy L. Kennedy) of Harris County, GA; two sisters Mary Welch of Florida and Nellie Holmes of West Virginia; five grandchildren Amy Rebecca Jones, Mackenzie Kellum Jones, Daniel Roy Haskell, Shelby Ryan Hemphill and Thomas Roy Hemphill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscogee County Humane Society 7133 Sacerdote Lane Columbus, GA 31907.
