Louvenia C. Wilcher

Louvenia C. Wilcher (Vennie), 93, of Columbus, GA died at Columbus Hospice House on Monday, February 14, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, February 25, 2022 in the Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA with Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating.  The family will receive friends between 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.

Mrs. Wilcher was born August 8, 1928 in Iron City, GA, daughter of the late Lonie Rathel and Daisy Harlow Rathel.  She was a loving wife supporting her husband during his 23 years of military service (including his service during two wars), both in the U.S. and Europe with children in tow. She was an active member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, MSG (Ret) Lewis C. Wilcher Jr., a son, Jerry Lewis Wilcher, and 12 siblings. Survivors include three children, Cathryn D. Norris (Rick), Cataula, GA, Nancy A. Wilcher (Charles Solis), Pine Mountain, GA, Duane G. Wilcher (Sherry), Madison, GA and one brother, Freddy L. Rathel (Peggy), Winchester, VA, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
