Louis Henry Grueber, 69, of Midland, GA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday November 1, 2014 at St. Peter United Methodist Church, 6507 Moon Road Columbus, GA. A private interment will follow according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Mr. Grueber was born February 27, 1945 in St. Louis, MO to the late Henry H. and Katherine W. Grueber. Mr. Grueber proudly served his country for 24 years in the United States Army. Upon retiring from the military, he worked as a project manager and consultant for J.W. Waller and Associates, retiring in 2009
Mr. Grueber was a member of St. Peter United Methodist Church. His greatest passion was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, a NASCAR enthusiast, and all around sports fan.
Mr. Grueber was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Jorns Grueber and his brother, Warren R. Grueber.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha "Marty" Grueber of Midland, GA, daughter, Tiffany Boyle (John) of St. Louis, MO, son Brett Louis Grueber of Columbus, GA, step-sons, Rev. Dr. John Ernest Stephens (Stephanie) of Houston, TX, Rev. Matthew Alan Stephens (Kristy) of Vienna, GA, and four grandchildren, Sarah Mac Stephens, Maddie Stephens, Sam Stephens, and Russ Stephens.
The family wishes to thank the John B. Amos Cancer Center, Midtown Medical Center, and Columbus Hospice for the loving care provided during a difficult journey.
