Louie G. Alverson, 92, of Phenix City, AL died Monday, August 30, 2010 at her daughter's home.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Hunt officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service according to the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Alverson was born July 9, 1918 in Shelby County, AL daughter of the late Lon and Myrtle Gasaway Griffin. She was a Sales Clerk for 38 years with several different Department Stores. She was a member of East Highland United Methodist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin G. Alverson, brother, Carver D. Griffin, and sister, Odene G. Hicks.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann Alverson Armstrong (Don) of Knoxville, TN and Cecilia Alverson Lawrence (Larry) of Phenix City, AL, brother, Gene R. Griffin (Sarah) of Chattanooga, TN, four grandchildren, Patrick (Deborah) Armstrong and Benjamin Armstrong both of Knoxville, TN, Lesley Lawrence and Laine (Dana) Lawrence of Phenix City, AL, four great grandchildren, Asher, Meade, Merry, and Amey Armstrong all of Knoxville, TN and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Vista Care Hospice 3615 South Railroad Street Suite 3 Phenix City, AL 36867.
