Loretta Davis Johnson

Loretta Davis Johnson, age 89, of Columbus, GA, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Tucker officiating. A private interment will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was a member of Eastern Stars and a lifetime member of The Gold Star Wives of America.
Mrs. Johnson was born August 4, 1923 in Edmonson County, Kentucky and was the third of four children born to John R. Roof and Delpha Coates Roof.
Loretta was married to Major James H. Davis, SR. and raised three children at various military bases. She was widowed in 1971. She later married Lt. Col. Clifford E. Johnson, Jr. and acquired a blended family to further bless her life. She was a homemaker her entire life and showered her family and friends with her love and support. She was again widowed in 2005.
Other than her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her sisters, Holline Jones and Ruth Roof and brother, Walter Roof.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by sons, Jack E. Davis and daughter-in-law Sara Jo Davis of Flowery Branch, GA., James H. Davis, Jr. of Fortson, GA.; one daughter, Rita F. Davis also of Flowery Branch, GA; step daughter, Dolly Sherman and husband, Mike Sherman of Lawrenceville, GA; six grandchildren, Karen Caswell Green, Sandie Caswell, Leslie D. Davis Green, Dustin Joiner, Nicole Conley and James H. Davis, III; seven great grandchildren, seven nieces, three nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews and many loved friends.
