Lolie was born to Robert M. Layton and Sally Melissa Tompkins Layton on March 6, 1916 in Harrison, Georgia. Lolie worked in Japan and carried fond memories of her early years there. She continued well after retirement sharing her stories of work with the AT&T Pioneers. Lolie was a long time member of River Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and she enjoyed the fellowship, Bible sermons, Sunday afternoon potluck lunches and fishing outings with every chance they were offered.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Koon; and then she found love again, marrying the late Taylor Monroe Allmond and by her step son Billy M. Allmond.
Survivors include Bobbie Marbut (Wes) of Gainesville, Ga., and Goldie Allmond of Jacksonville, FL. She also had five grandchildren, Jim, Keith, Susan, Adam, and Terri; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She joins family members in Heaven who now rejoice in her arrival, and she leaves many friends and family members here on Earth that will remember her and have smiles on their faces as well as tears cascading down their cheeks.
