Lloyd William (Bill) Slater, Jr., 68, formerly of Oil City, passed away in Columbus, GA on Monday, September 22, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

Bill was born on June 17, 1946 in Oil City, the son of Lloyd William Slater, Sr. and Joan Graham Slater.

He graduated in 1965 from Oil City Senior High School. He then attended Northwestern University in Illinois and Florida State University.

Bill was an inspector for a nuclear power plant outside Chicago until his retirement in 2006.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd William Slater, Sr. and Joan Graham Slater of Columbus, GA, he is survived by his sister Kathy Slater Robison of Columbus, GA and his niece Bradleigh Robison Uthe and her husband Peter of Pittsburgh, PA.

He is also survived by the following aunts: Dolores Kline of Franklin, PA, Judith (David) Fleckenstein and Dottie Stiller of Oil City, PA, Marion Hagan of Grafton, OH, Susanne (Larry) Williams of Houston, PA., and Rose Graham of PA. Bill is also survived by many cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hugh B. and Ethel Patterson Graham and his paternal grandparents Lloyd E. and Hazel Black Slater; his brother-in-law, Theodore Robison; and the following aunts and uncles, Ethel Nellis, Hugh B. Graham, Donald R. Graham, Harold Kline, Jerry E. Nellis, William D. Hagan, and William G. Stiller.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 30th, in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cranberry, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909 or the charity of one's choice.
