Linda Carol Minton Shelton

Linda Carol Minton Shelton, 71, Columbus, GA joined her Heavenly Father on June 4, 2022.

A memorial service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, June 9, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Linda was born in Columbus, GA August 22, 1950, to the late Master Sergeant Edward Minton, Lois Minton Anderson.  Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her stepfather, Raymond Anderson.

Linda lived the majority of her life in Columbus, GA, where she graduated from Jordan Vocational High School and then married her high school sweetheart, Tim, in 1971.  In 1992, Linda began working for Knox Pest Control as the Office Manager, and continued to advance her career with Knox where she was serving as the Director of Account Development.

Whether at the office or at home, Linda was known for her take-charge attitude and her dedicated work ethic.  She always had a plan, and she always knew how to execute it.  Linda took great pride in what she accomplished in her career, as well as the accomplishments of her daughter and her grandchildren.  Her face would light up as she told stories about their achievements.

Linda lived for her grandchildren and family.  Although she would jump at the chance to have a get together or cookout, Friday nights were always reserved for Cash and Monroe.  She looked forward to that special night and making memories with her grandchildren, and loved to talk about what they had planned for the evening.  Linda would call Cash and Monroe every day to chat about their day and tell them she loved them.

In addition to being Ashley’s mother, she was a “mom” to many others.  Throughout the years, Ashley’s friends would call Linda at all hours when they needed advice or a shoulder to cry on.  Linda loved all her friends like family, and she made sure everyone around her always felt that love.   She was accepting of all people, never making judgments, loving all people as they were.

Even though Linda was always busy and always on the go, she made sure that she made time for the important things in life: God, family, and friends. She was a strong pillar to her family and friends, lifting them up whenever they were down, and always someone to be counted on.  She will be forever missed.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Tim Shelton; her cherished daughter, Ashley Mixon (Bentley Mixon); her adored grandchildren, Cash and Monroe Mixon; her sisters Sandra Minton and Donna Hamilton (Nicky); and her brother Edward Minton, Jr. (Shawn).
