Linda Susan Foster Butler, surrounded by loving family, died on Monday, September 5th 2016 in hospice in Atlanta, GA. She was 51.
Born in Oklahoma City, Linda and her parents, two sisters, and brother moved overseas while she was a toddler. They lived in Lebanon, England, and Singapore before returning to the USA and settling in Mobile, AL. She attended St Ignatius School and McGill-Toolen High School, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in 1986.
She immediately began an energetic, successful career in the then-emerging telecommunications and mobile phone industry, working for A+ Communications, Delta Communications, and Signius Corporation in southern Alabama.
After nearly fifteen years of Gulf Coast living, and soon after starting her own family, Linda moved with her husband and three children to Missoula, MT, where she was actively and prominently involved in her community and church (First Presbyterian) for more than ten years. She worked on the management team of a spa and fitness center, but found the most satisfaction in her job as a much loved and admired school secretary at Valley Christian School.
Diagnosed with lung cancer in the Summer of 2013, Linda and her children relocated to Columbus, GA in early 2014 to a home immediately next door to her two sisters, where she enjoyed close daily contact with not only her sisters, but also an enviable quantity of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Choosing to enjoy living, and to enthusiastically celebrate life to the fullest before her end, Linda embraced the love, adventure, and blessings of every moment of every day, and enriched the lives of those around her in ways that will be remembered and treasured for years to come.
She is survived by her children Nancy, Stuart, and Patrick; her sisters Marion Foster Harris (Bill), Barbara Page Graydon (Mark), and her brother John Howard Foster, Jr. (Lori). She is preceded in death by her parents: J. Howard Foster and Nancy Rowe Closs Foster.
"Linda did it."
A rosary and reflection will be held in her honor at St Anne Catholic Church in Columbus on Monday, September 12th at 5:30 PM. A life-celebrating memorial will be held in Missoula later this Fall according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
In lieu of flowers, it is hoped that family and friends would please consider a donation of time, talent or treasure to the Valley Christian School, or to the Valley Christian School Scholarship Fund, in Linda's memory.
