Lillie L. Hinnant, 83, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, March 11, 2016 at ML Harris United Methodist Church 4601 Old Cusseta Rd. Columbus, GA 31903 with Rev. Walter Lundy and Rev. Patricia Burns officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. There will be no viewing at the church.
Mrs. Hinnant was born July 20, 1932 in Lowndes County, AL daughter of the late James E. and Prevella Gresham Lewis. She retired from the Muscogee County School District and was a member of ML Harris United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Hinnant was also a member of the Alter Guild, Georgia Association of Educators, Alabama State University Chapter of Columbus and Phenix City, and was a Life member of Gold Star Wives of America, Chattahoochee Valley Chapter.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin L. Hinnant, sisters, Willie M. Laws and Eula King, and her brother, Eugene Lewis.
Survivors include her children, Linda Hinnant (Freddie Porter) of Fayetteville, GA, Benjamin Hinnant and Letha Muhammed both of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Cole Nadrich (Shaneek), Tyce Nadrich (Josie) and Shaheed Muhammed, sister-in-law, Mizella Lewis, special friend, Robert Hill, caregiver, Sherry Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to ML Harris United Methodist Church in her honor.
