Lien Thi Landrum

Lien Thi Landrum (Nguyen Thi Vuong), 77, of Ellerslie, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta, GA.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, April 4, 2022,at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2000 Kay Circle, Columbus, GA 31907, with Rev. Robert Schlageter officiating. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2022, at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Boulevard, Columbus, GA 31907, with visitation following until 8:00 PM. Interment will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.

Mrs. Landrum was born May 10, 1944, in Ben-Thon, Son Tay, Vietnam, to her mother, Nguyen Thi Lan, and father, Nguyen Van Yen.  During the Vietnam War, she worked in the kitchen at the 24th Evacuation Hospital.  There, she met her devoted husband, the late Horace Milton Landrum, III, and moved to the United States of America in 1972.  Settling in Fort Benning, GA, she worked as a cook at the Fort Benning Mall Bowling Alley for over 40 years, where she never met a stranger, and cooked many new and retired soldiers a hearty meal.  She was a devout Catholic, and steadfast member of St. Anne Catholic Church.  When she wasn’t at church or work, she spent her time tending her garden, working in the yard, and cooking for friends and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Dawna E. Gepner (Calvin) of Lillington, NC; Mary T. Haggas of Columbus, GA; Christie L. Wooten (Lee) of Senoia, GA; sons, James R. Landrum of Madison, VA; Terence P. Landrum of Madison, VA; Charles V. Landrum of Deatsville, AL, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 19 nephews, 20 nieces, and a wealth of extended family in Vietnam.
