Columbus, GA - Lewis Locascio, 95, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Brookside Glenn in Columbus.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 26, 2010 at Parkhill Cemetery with Father J. Scott Winchel officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 till 8 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL.

Lewis was born August 6, 1914 in Birmingham, Alabama, son of the late Paul & Lena Brazil Locascio. He is also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Lewis was a short order cook for Happy John Bolus's diner in Birmingham, Alabama until he was drafted into the United States Army on December 6, 1942. Lewis was a member of the 84th Infantry Division "Railsplitter" 334th. During such times he participated in the Allied Forces invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach, the Battle of the Bulge and Korean War. Lewis retired from military service on August 31, 1964 and made his home in Columbus, Georgia.

Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy J. Locascio of Columbus; daughter, Carol Gallops of Phenix City; son Robert Lewis Locascio and daughter-in-law Joann Locascio of Phenix City; five grandchildren Rachel Parker, Jeana R. Gallops, Robert L. Locascio, Jr., Gregory A. Locascio and Christopher D. Locascio; two step grandchildren Melissa D. Grill and Michelle J. Grill; four great grandchildren,Selena J. Mason, Abbigail N. Parker, Kinsley A. Locascio, Kohen L. Locascio, Landon A. Wendlendt and Jaxon C. Parker along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
