Leonard was born May 9, 1945, in Kankakee, IL to the late Russell Hurley and Agnes Spivey Chilson. He was employed with Delta Life Insurance Company and had previously retired from Independent Life/AIG American General, where he assisted countless families with their insurance needs. Along the way, during his over 50-year esteemed insurance career, he made many lifelong friends, as well as making many of his clients his lifelong friends. He was incredibly passionate about helping others, ensuring their families and loved ones were well taken care of in their time of need.

Leonard loved Jesus Christ and his family beyond measure, and with every effort and accomplishment, he credited them as his driving force. He was the most loving and devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather, never missing an opportunity to tell others just how blessed he was to have them in his life. The legacy of love he and his wife Sue fostered, lives on in their daughters, and their grandchildren. If you would’ve asked Leonard what his greatest achievement in life was, he would’ve answered saying that it was marrying Sue and having his three children and six grandchildren; simply put, his greatest source of pride and joy was all of the life that they lived, and the love that they created, together.

Leonard was preceded in death by the love of his life of 53 years, Susan “Sue” Hurley and his son, Todd Hurley.

Survivors include his daughters: Kathy Landrum of Holly Springs, NC, and Tiffany Roberts (Jim) of Cusseta, GA. His Sisters, Gwen Gamble of Smith Station, AL, and Cheryl Rashkin (Bob) of Lakeworth, FL. His Grandchildren, Conner Landrum, Kristen Landrum, Abigail Reyes (Gabriel), Jackson Roberts, Katelyn Roberts and Caroline Roberts, and his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
