Leonard Curtis “Curt” Roberts

Leonard Curtis “Curt” Roberts, age 73, passed away peacefully from a cholangiocarcinoma (a rare and aggressive form of cancer) on Friday, August 23, 2024 in Columbus, GA surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907 on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 11:00am with Pastor Jared Owens officiating. The family will have a visitation on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at McMullen Funeral Home.

Curt was born January 19, 1951 in Ft. Campbell, KY to the late Leonard Cortez Roberts and Betty Faye Sutton Roberts. He graduated from Kendrick High School in Columbus, GA. He recently retired from the Columbus Consolidated Government, Parks and Recreation Division, after 27 years of service. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Auburn Tigers. He worked security for the Columbus Civic Center, Jordan-Hare Stadium, and many other softball events throughout Georgia. He officiated over 30 years for the Georgia High School Association and American Softball Association. Throughout his lifetime he participated in many extracurricular activities to include bowling, dance contests, playing horseshoes, cards, and throwing darts; but his greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren play ball. He also served on his High School Reunion Committee and was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Curt was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alicia Michelle Trammell; a sister, Debra “Debbie” McAdory; and a nephew, Dakota Roberts. He is survived by his daughters Renee’ Roberts, Ginger Busby, and Kathryn Roberts; six grandchildren, Lisa Pate, Shannon Cullen, Katie Fridley, Kylie Fridley, Sara Grace Busby, and Kelsie Fridley; four great-grandchildren, Leland Pate, Lydia Droege, Olivia Cullen, and Carson Cullen; and four siblings, Chrissy Barecky, Derek Roberts, Eric Roberts, and Mike Roberts; and many other close relatives.
