Leonard Fielden Chapman, 70, passed away peacefully December 7, 2024 at River Towne Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility following a brief illness.
A graveside service will be held 1:30 pm Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00PM, Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA, 31907.
He was born June 9, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Charles Lloyd Chapman and Lillie Ruth James. He graduated in 1972 from Kendrick High School and proudly served his country in the US Army from 1972 until 1992. He was a member of the US Army Band as a percussionist. He served in Fort Benning, New York, Hawaii, Germany and Iraq. He retired as Sergeant 1st Class. During his time in the service he was an avid archer.
Leonard was a member of the American Contract Bridge Club in Columbus as well as a member of the Bob Barr Community Band. He loved spending time fishing and time on his boat.
He is survived by his sisters, Deborah (Ronnie) Rigney of Crittenden, KY, Polly (Donald) Ford of Denton, TX, many nieces, nephews and special friend, Carol Stevens and Patty Land.
