Lena "Jane" Beck, 83, of Columbus, GA died Monday, October 10, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Meacham officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The following will serve as active pallbearers: Reginald Walton, Chris Outlaw, Blake Browning, Terry Robbins, Ricky Newell, Jr. and Jovi Huckelba. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Following the services, the family will receive friends for a reception at City Gate Church 1307 9th Ave. Phenix City, AL 36867.
Mrs. Beck was born January 2, 1928 in Dozier, AL daughter of the late Julius Marvin and Lavina Gem Ward. She retired after 32 years of faithful service with Southern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and had recently attended City Gate Church. She was also a member of the Southern Bell Pioneers. She had volunteered for the Alzheimer's Association and various nursing homes.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Harvey Beck.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Browning of Canton, GA and Louise Beck Howard of Columbus, GA, sister, Elizabeth Blair of Opp, AL, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
