Lela Mae Williams Taylor, 91, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, December 20, 2015 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Glenn Anthony Baptist Church 1109 39th St. Columbus, GA 31904 with Reverend Hank Reeves, Reverend Udell Addison, and Dr. Steven Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Taylor was born June 26, 1924 in Bonifay, FL. She was the daughter of the late Earnest Williams and Leila Cook Williams. She worked as a Teacher's Aide for the Muscogee County School District and also worked at Bibb Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Glenn Anthony Baptist Church for nearly 70 years, where she was very active and a leader in WMU.
Her hobbies and interests included her family, gardening, caring for her flowers and fishing with her husband. She was a wonderful, Christian lady, the sweetest wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother anyone could ever have. Her life involved her family, her church family, and friends.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Curtis Walter Taylor.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Atkinson (David) of Columbus, GA, sons, Larry Taylor (Sara) of Panama City, FL and Luther Taylor (Kathy) of Pensacola, FL, sisters, Evelyn Whitaker and Annie Thompson, brother, Tom Williams, grandchildren, David Paul Atkinson (Heather), Steve Taylor (Christi), Dana Goldman (Jeff), Lori Kizziah (John) and Tiffany Woodward (Doug), and 12 great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make memorial contributions to Glenn Anthony Baptist Church.
