Leila Smith Winchester, 78, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Pastor Judy Hay officiating. Entombment will be held in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Ms. Winchester was born May 11, 1937 in Anderson, SC daughter of the late Clyde and Mattie Vineler Long Smith. She worked for 23 years as an Administrative Assistant at Auburn University and was Protestant by faith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Geraldine Cox.
Survivors include her daughter, Maria Winchester Brown (Richard), two sons, Chris Winchester (Katherine) and Glenn Winchester (Tammy), sisters, Janice Smith (Neal), Arlene Smith, Nancy Blanchard and Kathy Smith, grandchildren, Philip Winchester (Sophie), Tiffany Winchester, J.R. Pines, Jack Winchester and Kate Winchester, one great grandchild, Vivian Winchester, and numerous nieces and nephews.
