Lawrence "Larry" Preston Cooper, 77, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM July 24, 2013 at Epworth United Methodist Church 2400 Devonshire Dr. Columbus, GA 31904 with Reverend Scott Hagan officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Cooper was born May 26, 1936 in Tipp City, OH son of the late Clete and Rachael Deacon Cooper. He retired from Columbus Mills in 1997 after serving 27 years. He was elected vice president of national sales in 1974. After retirement, he opened The Carpet Store and stayed in business until 2008.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a teacher of love, joy, lessons, fun and countless sweet, sweet memories.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Bott.
Survivors include his loving wife, Deborah Pearce Cooper, children, Debbie Mercer (Tony), Tammy Taylor (Richard), Mendy Avant (Greg), Emily Pearce Wackerlin (Kris), Mark Pearce and Kevin Pearce, brother-in-law, Larry Moseley, grandchildren, Joshua Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Ashley Davidson (Adam), Brooke Taylor, Chase Avant, Chandler Avant, Norma Jane Pearce, Molly Wackerlin, Cooper Wackerlin and Parker Wackerlin, great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Taylor Mobley, Khloe, Kennedy, Copeland and Kylee Taylor, and Madeline Davidson.
