Lavonia Alice Devlin, 89, of Columbus, GA, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at Orchard View Rehabilitation Center, Columbus, GA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Wynnbrook Baptist Church, 500 River Knoll Way, Columbus, GA 31904 with Dr. Craig Bowers and Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Boulevard, Columbus, GA 31907.
Alice was the daughter of Willie and Florence Callahan Davenport. Born in Coleman, GA she moved to Columbus, GA after graduating from Cuthbert High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for United Builders, Rhodes Construction, and Wade Realty.
Alice married Lamar Devlin, and had a loving marriage of 65 years.
She was a very active member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church and a member of the St. Francis Women's Auxiliary for over 20 years working in the hospital gift shop.
Alice loved crafts and often put her creations in craft shows. She was a very people oriented person and had a special bond and love for her lifelong friends Lilah Fields and Jacquie Rawls.
She is predeceased by brothers Fess, Olin, and Prentiss Davenport and a sister June Davenport Schorr. She is survived by her daughter Ms. Pam Devlin of Tybee Island, GA, sisters Dorothy Hall of Coleman, GA and Myrtice Richardson of Bradenton, FL as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Wynnbrook Baptist Church, 500 River Knoll Way, Columbus, GA 31904.
