LaVon "Xavier" Woods, 18, of Columbus, GA, died August 14, 2014.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Solid Rock Assembly of God Church with Pastor Tommy Bradford officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Church according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A burial will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, IL.
Xavier was born April 8, 1996 in Ft. Benning, GA, son of Lowuan D. Woods and Judy Sanders-Woods. He attended Hardaway High School having graduated in 2014. While in high school he was a member of IBCC, SGA, Soccer Team, HOSA, Wrestling Team, Senior Council, CNA-Dual Enrollment, National Honor Society, a 2013 Georgia National Team Member, 2014 Page One Runner Up for Athletics, and Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus. He was a freshman at Brewton-Parker College. Xavier was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Will Sanders and Archie Woods, an aunt, and cousins.
Survivors other than his parents include his brother, Lowuan Jaire Woods of Columbus, GA; sister, Jocelyn Woods of Brandywine, MD; maternal grandmother, Hattie Lee Sanders of Mt. Vernon, IL; Paternal Grandmother, Violet Woods of Mt. Vernon, IL; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hawkbackers Wrestling, 1931 Oak Ave. Columbus, GA 31906.
