Laura Thompson

Laura Neil Temples Thompson passed away in Austell, GA, September 4, 2021 at age 88. She was born in Early County, GA, November 12, 1932 to Irma Knight Temples and John Wesley Temples Sr.  She spent most of her life in Columbus, GA and moved to Dallas, GA several years ago to be near her children, who were dedicated Caregivers in her last years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. Visitation will take place from 2:00-3:00pm. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sons, Robert Daniel and William DeLong Jr.; sisters, Mary Temples, Vincye Hayes and Elsie Edwards. Survivors include daughter, Judy Register  (Alan); sons, Donald Daniel (Laura) and Henry DeLong; grandchildren, John Daniel, Julie Register, Brian Register, Jason Daniel, Pamela Daniel, Christina DeLong and William Delong  III; great grandchildren, Michael Alan Register, Hudson Luke Daniel, Chance Williams, Chase William and Alana DeLong; brothers, John Temples, James Temples and George Temples. Laura leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. All of her large family was special to her and she remained in touch with many of them until very late in her life. Laura’s greatest pleasure in life was talking about her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and how wonderful they all were. She was the “Memory Data Bank” for the family archives and could recite names, birthdates and children’s names by the dozens. She could reflect on childhood memories with pinpoint precision and was the “GO-TO” source for phone numbers. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
