Larry Lloyd Newsome, Jr., 49, of Phenix City, AL died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 9, 2013 at Golden Acres Baptist Church with Reverend Ray Cummings officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 according to Colonial Funeral Home 614 14th St. Phenix City, AL 36867.
Mr. Newsome was born July 5, 1964 in Phenix City, AL son of the late Larry Lloyd Newsome, Sr. and Emily Hammock Lyke. He worked in Loss Prevention. He enjoyed watching the Columbus Cottonmouths Hockey Team and Nascar. He daughter Kate was his world and he enjoyed going to rock concerts with her. Most of all, he drew his strength through Christ.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gina English.
Survivors include his daughter, Kate Newsome of Phenix City, AL, sisters, Susan Newsome Davis of Phenix City, AL, Joann Newsome Maier of Spencerport, NY, Emily Lyke Guillaume of Valdosta, GA, Karen Lyke Soto of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Jennifer Newsome Baumgart and Karen Newsome both of Phenix City, AL, brother, Michael Newsome of Phenix City, AL, stepfather, Gary Lyke of Phenix City, AL, stepmother, Barbara Newsome of Phenix City, AL, 9 nieces, 7 nephews, and many close friends and family members.
