Larry Elijah Jackson

Larry Elijah Jackson, 62, of Columbus, GA died Monday, June 21, 2010 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Johnny Updike and Reverend Jim McIlrath officiating. The family will receive friends after the service according to the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Jackson was born June 15, 1947 in Gadsden, AL son of the late E.L. Jackson, Jr. and Frances Loree Colwell. Larry was a very talented singer, song writer, musician & record producer. He recorded many of his own songs & produced several CD's, some of which were #1 in Europe. He grew up in Columbus, graduated from JVHS , moved to Atlanta & later to Nashville to pursue his career. He had recently returned to Columbus & created the popular website "WAY DOWN IN COLUMBUS,GEORGIA," plus other websites for many recording artist. He was in the process of producing another CD. Larry was loved & will be missed by hundreds of musicians & entertainers for his friendship and his incredible talent.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Freddie Updike.
Survivors include his two sisters, Pat Bass Smith (Crawford) of Columbus, GA and Phyllisia Jackson Irshad (Larry Weber) of Atlanta, GA, aunt, Imogene Ellis of Susan Moore, AL, nieces, Vicky Hardage (Chuck), Missy Lemmons (Donnie), Jenny James (Shane), Ashley Waddell (Michael), Johnny Updike (Stephanie), Malcolm Snipes (Sherrie) and Branden Hege, seventeen great nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Darlene Shadden of Nashville, TN, and special friends Martha Ann Mobley, John & Beverly Suhr & Ronnie Jones (Don Edwards).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LARRY JACKSON MEMORIAL FUND at any BB&T Bank location.
