Larry, known affectionately to all as just that, was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew him. His journey began as a young boy in Tifton, where his playful spirit and kind heart were evident from an early age. He shared an unbreakable bond with his twin brother, Harry, with whom he would often lovingly play tricks on their school teachers by swapping classes, creating fond memories and stories that would be told and retold throughout the years.
After graduating from Kendrick High School in 1972, Larry embarked on a career that would span fifteen years with Buffalo Rock Pepsi. He dedicated himself to his work and retired with a legacy of commitment and camaraderie. His colleagues remember him not just for his work ethic, but for his ability to bring a smile to anyone's face.
Larry's life was enriched by his marriage to his beautiful wife of forty-three years, Lucille Crain. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. Their family grew with the addition of their son Larry Crain Jr. and daughter Sherrie, and her boyfriend Richard Harbuck, who both brought immense joy to Larry's life.
He was a loving presence in the lives of his mother, Gwendolyn Garrett Crain, siblings: sister Linda Riley and her husband Don, brother Leonard Crain Jr. and his wife Brenda, brother Michael Crain and his wife Judy, sister Theresa Starns and her husband Greg, sister Carol Noell, sister Gwen Pigg and her husband Ronny, and brother Dan Crain Sr. and his wife Jancie, sister-in-law, Patty Crain. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Leonard D. Crain Sr., his twin brother Harry Crain, and his brother Ricky Crain Sr. His numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members will forever cherish the memories they shared.
Larry's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were endearing. He never met a stranger and could often be found enjoying the simple pleasures of life, such as going to the beach, or engaging in his favorite pastime of disassembling and reassembling objects, a testament to his handy nature. His back porch was a sanctuary for the animals he loved to feed, and it was a place where friends and family were always welcome.
Those who knew Larry will remember him for his love of life and for the kindness he extended to all. He was a man who could fix almost anything, not just with his hands but with his heart as well. His legacy is one of love, friendship, and the countless lives he touched with his generous spirit.
As we bid farewell to Larry Melvin Crain Sr., we hold tight to the memories that he leaves behind. His love and laughter will echo in the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. Larry's life was a testament to the beauty of kindness, the strength of family, and the joy of living each day to the fullest.
