Laris S. "L.S." Johnson, 81 of Hamilton, GA died Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gene Forehand and Faternal Order of Police Chaplian Doug Grubbs officiating. Active Pallbearers will be the Columbus Police Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons of Mr. Johnson. Interment with Navy Honors will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternnon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr Johnson was born January 19, 1929 in Headland, Al. son of the late Brady and Mary Snellgrove Johnson. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years serving in the Korean Conflict, then retired after 20 years as Captian with the Columbus Police Department. After his retirements he was the former owner of L. S. Johnson Construction and Plumbing Company and a former Security Officer with the Muscogee County School District.

Mr. Johnson attended North Highland Assembly of God Church, was a three term President of the local Faternal Order of Police and a former National Trustee of the Faternal Order of Police. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marcella Johnson.

Survivors include his wife Linda Cavanaugh Johnson of Hamilton, Ga., one daughter Jeanette Riley (James) of Waverly Hall, Ga., two sons Rodger Johnson (Patricia) of Columbus, Ga., Trent Johnson of Hamilton, Ga., two step sons Michael Cavanaugh (Kelly) and Eric Cavanaugh (Stephanie) all of Columbus, Ga., one brother Billy Johnson of Suffolk, Virginia 13 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He touched many lives through his professional and personal life. He will be missed by many.
